Hi Channel 10!
I noticed on my logs the other week that someone from Channel 10 was looking around. Hi there! Don't know where you've gone, but please come back and join the conversation. Uh, what happened to that conversation anyway? That's OK, in a few weeks I will unveil my plans to revitalize downtown Knoxville, and should receive a flurry of hatemail and flames. Anyone who reads my stuff on TUAW.com and Downloadsquad.com knows I'm a sucka for the flamer (hugs to you all, lame-o's).
Anyway, I'm complaining (as usual) about Channel 10. Because I love to pick on MSM, or MainStream Media. This time it's personal. My daughter was taped at last year's "Fantasy of Trees" and she's in this year's TV commercial. When my wife asked if she could get a copy of the tape, she was told "no." So I taped it onto my Mac mini and posted it up on my personal pages for family to see. Since I've got family all over the world, it's the only way to share!
So I just wanted to let Channel 10 know, thanks for nothing really. It'd be a common courtesy to allow a person to pick up a VHS tape. Heck, I know how to run a DigiBeta deck (if you guys are digital even, LOL) and could pop in and make a copy. I do thank you for putting my daughter in the commercial, because we vain parents dig such silliness, but how could you resist? She's so cute!
Also, once again you've missed the point. Why isn't that commercial online? I would have sent a few dozen viewers to your site today. Not exactly a traffic spike, but good for business nonetheless. I would have even posted a link here, which would have meant another dozen folks would see it. Imagine, ads being seen by the public, wow! It could even make money! Maybe this internet thing isn't a fad after all.
Gotta feel for them tho, MSM will be largely decimated in the coming decade. As GenY grows ever more powerful, the distribution of media content will shift to online. Since MSM seems hellbent for leather on ignoring, defaming, and downright destroying such channels of distribution (aka the interweb), they will be doomed to the same fate of all industries who failed to embrace new threats and adapt to them: they will fail. Miserably methinks too...
