Funny stuff

I had no idea comedy was still this big. Maybe not early-to-mid-nineties big, but still quite big. Please keep in mind I am NOT affiliated with these people, but I am a fan. That's what blogging is all about. You like something? Write about it.

Well here's a kudo to the Comedy Zone here in Knoxville. They've booked friends of mine (like the inimitable Jesse Perry and the flavorful Chad Riden), and they continue to book very good acts. If you need a laugh, they are indeed a safe bet. You'd think that's an easy task. It is not. Particularly around here, where what is "funny" can vary pretty badly. I mean, trying to find common ground between a 22 year-old stoner and a 52 year-old doctor is never easy.

So hat's off to the Comedy Zone, and to Sadie, who is thus far one of the nicest, coolest bartenders I've met. Thanks for making my experience a great one.

Oh, Jesse and Chad went to UT and worked around here, but we've lost them both to Nashville. See how that brain drain works? We gotta get that downtown Knoxville thing fixed before we lose even more great people! Yeah, you myspace posse, I'm looking at you...
