Me Live at the KMA this Sunday

In conjunction with KMA’s current exhibition, Quantizing Effects: The Liminal Art of Jim Campbell, a panel discussion will be held in the museum’s Auditorium on Sunday, February 5, 2pm. Free with museum admission.

Panelists with interests and experiences in the sciences, mathematics, electrical engineering, and the visual arts, will share their insights and reflections about new media in the visual arts in general, and specifically relative to the custom electronic sculptures and installations on view. The intellectual and emotional concepts explored and examined by the artists, the entryways into understanding and interpreting their works, and the criteria for evaluation of these works will be compared and contrasted with strategies employed by more traditional art forms.

Panelists will include:

Victor Agreda Jr
Graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville
Attended Watkins Film School, Nashville, TN
Multimedia and game design instructor at ITT Technical Institute, Knoxville.

Brian Hingerty
Retired scientist from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Life Sciences Division and has worked extensively in computational modeling of biochemical structures using computer graphics

Denise Stewart-Sanabria

Dee-Dee Stewart-Sanabria works on plywood -- these look to me like some digital photographs blown up and printed onto playwood or onto a sheet that is attached directly to plywood. Oil painting, really? Only thing interesting about them to me is their scale.
