Take Your Protien Pill and Put Your Helmet On

The cool kids in Knoxville are repping helmets, yo.

Big up to Speedy Joel T for shooting this over. For the record, I've been riding bikes in urban traffic situations and off-road since I was 13 (nearing 20 years), including a daily commute from the Kay's ice cream on Chapman Hwy (by Wal Mart) to campus, a 2 year stint as a courier in Atlanta (Bicycling Magazine's most bike unfriendly city USA as reported by ABC World News Tonight), and a daily 4 mile commute to highschool in downtown Nashville (HFA reppin'). I've fallen and gone over my handlebar more times than I can count and have hit/been hit by cars at least 4 times, and I've got a ton of road rash to prove it. Never one time did I hit my head. I wore helmets a lot, but I don't really fuck with them anymore. Your kids should do it, of course, but there's a lot of undue emphasis being put on helmets these days and mark my words, this is gonna end up like the seat belt laws. What I mean is, a law enacted so cops can fish for probable cause to search you or ticket you to line their coffers. They'll use (racist) scare tactics to convince the public to enact helmet laws. Lots of homeless have bikes; and to white folks that vote, that equals black folks. Next thing you know, they're gonna make you get a damn bicycle license. But what do I know?

Look--just don't put yourself in a situation on a bike that you can't handle and always make sure you know where every car on the road is before you do anything (which you should do in your car, but not all of y'all do) and you'll be a'ight.

One can only assume that the 'performers' in this video are victims of brain injury being given pity jobs...I don't think 'pimpin' with my helmet is gonna happen in this life. I'm glad to see the KPD spending their time ticketing 12 year olds, guess it beats working for a living. Does this video remind anyone else of those lame anti drug videos from the 80's? I can just see some yuppie producer telling the actors to 'keep it real, yo'... they'd have been better off making a video to inform kids of their 4th amendment rights against unlawful searches.

"No this ain't no con! Keep yer helmet on, can still get hurt in your lawn." Truer words never spoken.

This song will be much like a fine wine with time.

I think that's a lovely video, and don't understand why anyone would say differently. Such kindness in the message!
