Caring for the youngest with lifelong mental issues
Generally I listen to the police scanner during the day just to hear live human beings going about their business. Weird, but that's what the isolation of working at home will do to you.
Within minutes I'm focused on work and the radio is just like a radio at work, fading into the background as noise which I can selectively tune out.
Then I hear about a 10 year old boy with "mental issues" who has been reported tearing up his mom's house and is now "lying on the floor because he said his mom makes him take drugs."
He's not in immediate danger (he's just on the floor, not passed out or immobile -- he just wants to lie there according to the complainant). But I do worry about the little guy. It's clear he needs medical care, and for whatever reason the people around him aren't able to provide the proper care. So he's lashing out.
And that's just one random day in a mid-tier city in the South.
Gonna hug my little guy extra tight today.
