Our TN "leaders" are shameful and unrepentant

From Cari Gervin of Metropulse on Twitter, reporting during hearings about the so-called "Oliver Twist" bill which would reduce welfare benefits to families whose school-aged kids allow their grades to slip:
"@carigervin: Niceley says he heard on "national news" that average welfare family is making $61,000 a year. THIS IS OF COURSE TOTAL AND COMPLETE BS."

You see, the legislators in favor of this do not care about facts or reason. They do not care about the unintended consequences of what they wish to do. Like a baby, they only know that they want this TO BE DONE. And they will go to church on Sunday thinking they have done the Lord's work when, in fact, they have perverted every message Jesus ever taught. Ever. Look up in your Bible where it says the poor shall be fed according to the scholarly performance of their forbears. It ain't there.

Here's my billion dollar question: If Campfield and his cronies are so hot to trot to encourage better grades, why not ALSO punish the families of the top earners? If a family who can afford tutoring, etc. has a kid who is failing, isn't that even worse? Punish them with taxes -- perhaps raising the capital gains tax or, better still, start taxing their incomes.

Of course this will never happen. Remember what I said about logic and reason. In this case, their black hearts only want what their black hearts want: for the poor to suffer, die, and be buried in unmarked lots.
