Let's be nicer, shall we? (tax-free holiday edition)
I'm doing this thing where I try to be more positive. In that vein, let's look at the experiences of just ONE mom trying to get school supplies during tax-free weekend. Yes, I know we are all rushed and bothered and annoyed on these days. But:
Of course it's hard to just "be patient." I'm not patient, and it has caused me no end of troubles. Still, when I weigh the plusses and minuses of living in the South I did used to regard "politeness" as a positive.
If this bad behavior keeps up I will consider Southern manners dead. That's unfortunate.
- Watch This Is Water and consider this next time.
- Try putting on relaxing music, or whale noises, or *anything* to calm you down while you drive.
- You're just shopping. This isn't a UN food drop. Be patient.
