When will KPD take gang violence seriously?
Watching Jamie Satterfield on Twitter cover a press conference about a recent run up in shootings in the town. Apparently Chief Rausch refuses to admit they might be related. But they are, it's quite clear.
This all harkens back to the year I briefly left Knoxville. A young girl named Brittany Daniels (5) died when a stray bullet hit her on a playground. A year later her father died after being shot by a robber.
Then, as now, Knoxville saw a rise in gang violence. Then, as now, the police chief stuck his head in the sand and pretended that our town couldn't possibly have a "gang problem."
Do we learn nothing? Do we apply no knowledge to our actions? Who holds this man's flawed, ignorant thinking accountable?
