Tennessee is determined to be LAST in education

Granted, it's a natural extension of the sheer lunacy and utter idiocy of the policymakers in Nashville. The dumb leading the clueless, as it were.

Now someone had a great idea: Let's limit the number of foreigners in our charter schools.

For what purpose? Who the hell knows. I'm guessing it's part of the same jingoist, xenophobic rhetorical bullshit that has been plaguing us since 2001. "Get them Muslims outta here!" Yeah, well, the Indians who were here before whitey arrived would like to talk to you guys...

Anyway, read this letter from a former DC superintendent begging Haslam to veto this nonsense. Which he won't, because it has become clear he has no spine. I'm guessing he'll make a quick run for US Senate next, possibly with aims for the White House in a few years. Why not? He's obviously courting the lunatic whacko fringe that has seen a surge in popularity as our country's education system has fallen to pieces in the past 40 years.

Ohhhh, now I get it. By making our population dumber and poorer, the GOP can guarantee it'll stay in power forever. Well if that isn't what America was founded on, I don't know what is!

Tennessee passes law saying murder still illegal

What would you think if you saw that? That it was a waste of time for our legislature to make such a law? Well, if Gov. Haslam says our bill that will make it "OK to teach scientific weaknesses" won't change anything, according to him, WHY MAKE IT?

How many bills are written and passed so that nothing changes? That seems rather wasteful. Can we really afford for our state government to be so wasteful? I thought these folks were fiscal conservatives?

This is a total waste of taxpayer money.

But we know it's to satisfy the lunatic fringe that has taken over Tennessee. We are becoming Ground Zero for the American Taliban and it scares the hell out of me.
