Only 3 major cities made an "economic recovery" in 2012, and Knoxville is one of them

Wow! I've been amazed at how quickly developers and investors and small business types got back to work, but I had no idea things were going this well compared to others. We do live in a pretty swell town. What shocks me is the investment -- I had always been told that investors around here are gunshy. I guess they figured out it's wise to invest in your own town.

Anyway, Reuters has a great interview with Madeline Rogero about the recovery and awesome things going on around Knoxville.

This is why we can't have nice things

Look, if you are sick of running a business just say "I don't want to do this any more" and stop with the drama bombs. This is Knoxville, not Seattle.

I'm referring to the supposed "reason" for the Valarium closing. And Ciderhouse, I suppose. I love those buildings, but there's a lot of work that could be done around the area to make it more amenable to humans going there. The fact that they've said they were having financial difficulties doesn't surprise me in the least. From the way I've seen venues come and go around here it's like watching a goat drive a supertanker into the drive through window at Petro's.

Anyway, funny thing is the rules that were supposedly changing that were causing the closure aren't actually changing.
